THE ART OF GARDENS Opening – July, 2016

This was another joint exhibition at the Pepper St Art Gallery, Magill. It was one of many exhibitions put on by SALA – South Australian Living Artists – for this year’s SALA festival. If you are interested in learning more about SALA, you can do so through their website, accessed by clicking here.

With over 30 artists contributing to this exhibition, there was a huge crowd at the opening of the exhibition on July 31st. Of the members of my INSPACE group, only Helen Sidoryn and myself submitted paintings to this exhibition. But we were well supported by the other members of the group, Sue Colyer and Hannah Bushaway.

You can view the three pieces I submitted to the exhibition in my Gallery section, and by clicking here.

A special feature of this exhibition was the entry by long-time friend, Dennis Obst, of his sculpturing of a garden seat and table made from recycled steel and timber.

INSIDE, OUTSIDE Exhibition – June, 2015

Ingroup Ex 2015 - Invitation - FINAL2Ingroup Ex 2015 - Invitation - FINAL

Despite the wintry evening, a wonderful crowd of around 130 people came along to the Pepper St Gallery, Magill, for the opening of our Inside, Outside exhibition on June 12th.

This time only four of us from Ingroup exhibited. This meant we had to work very hard in a short space of time to ensure the exhibition was varied, challenging, and well presented. We were delighted with the result and public response.

The exhibition was opened by well-known SA artist and dancer, Anni Luur Fox. Anni’s presence was especially meaningful for me because Anni and I attended art school and teachers’ college together. A delightful surprise on opening night was that two other of my friends and colleagues from art school (Joan and Iolee) also came along.

Rae, Anni, Joan and Iolee. All together again after quite a number of years!

I was also invited to submit material for the local press in The Messenger.

MULTIPLICITY OPENING – April 17, 2015

Around 120 attended the opening, and enjoyed plenty of chatting, nibbles and drinks. The gallery also looked great!

The exhibition was opened by Michelle Davis-Waznek, former curator at Juxtapose gallery, and a guide at the Art Gallery of SA.

You can view my entries in the Multiplicity exhibition by clicking here.

The Hughes Gallery at Fullarton Community Centre was an ideal space for my work and venue for the opening night.

Opening night was a lot of fun. It was delightful to see so many family, friends and colleagues there (120+ in all), and so fulfilling for me that people enjoyed the exhibition.

We had lots of ‘German’ food which disappeared during the course of the evening, people chatted happily, and were impressed with the beautiful speeches given by Bob, Laetitia and Dharma. Thank you especially to Laetitia and Dharma for the time given to thorough preparation and thoughts expressed in their opening speeches.

I was somewhat overwhelmed by the event, but in retrospect thoroughly enjoyed it.

You can see all the works on display at the exhibition in the Gallery on BACK TO WHERE I CAME FROM, and can also access that gallery by clicking here.

INSPACE Exhibition – May, 2013

Inscape exhibition invitation

The invitation to the exhibition.

This exhibition was a joint undertaking with a group of fellow artists who have been meeting each week for the past few years in my studio.

We call ourselves INGROUP; and the title for the exhibition was Inspace.

The exhibition was held at the Pepper Street Arts Centre, 558 Magill Rd, Magill (cnr of Pepper St and Magill Rd), opened on May 3rd, and continued until May 31st.

We had a very successful opening night, exhibiting over 60 pieces of art, each having our own space within the gallery.

During May we also ran workshops. I was involved in the pastel and oil stick presentations.

You can view the 11 paintings I entered in my INSPACE Gallery (click here).
